SUAN SON PRADIPAT

SUAN SON PRADIPAT
located on the other side of Khao Takieb about 8km south of Hua Hin town is Suan Son Pradipat beach meaning Sea Pine Tree Garden Beach.

Much quieter than it’s neighbour Hua Hin beach but not without its own charms. The beach and the adjoining land is owned by the Thai Army Welfare Office.

At the north end of the beach nearest Khao Takieb, there are many inexpensive beach restaurants.

The beach is over 6km long and most of the beach is lined with sea pine. The water is shallow and you can walk far out from the beach into the ocean before reaching any depth.

Nong Yai Wooden Bridge at the Nong Yai Park Chumpon.

Nong Yai Wooden Bridge at the Nong Yai Park Chumpon.
The park came about following the devastation caused by Typhoon Gay back in November 1989. 529 people were killed, 160,000 became homeless, with 7,130 km2 of farm land destroyed. Under Royal Initiative a system of flood control measures were implemented.

The main flood management system is a diversion canal running from the Tha Taphap river in the west of the park to the Phanang Tak river in the east, which is near the sea. In times of heavy rain, water can be diverted through the canal preventing/reducing any flooding in the area around Chumphon town.

It is a fantastic Park and a great place to go and walk and you can also see Javan rusa deer

Phuket mining Museum- Kathu-Phuket

sunny 29 °C

From my trip in January 2020 to the hills of Kathu, I found the Phuket Mining Museum.

Stunning grandiose drive to this magnificent building. Which actually was more interesting on the outside than the inside. Most f this video is just that!

The outside and the inner quadrant of the mansion.

Something to view whilst stuck at home and remind ourselves of sunnier days out!

Phuket Mining Museum (or Kathu Mining Museum) was built with unusual grandeur in a very remote and isolated location behind the Loch Palm Golf Club of Kathu, somewhere in the hills before Patong. Museums in Phuket are not precisely living spaces where artists exhibit their creations, but this one gives you a pretty good vision of what Phuket was famous for during the tin mining era.

Driving through the Phuket Mining Museum massive double arch entrance gate and along the lake will lead you to a monumental Sino-Portuguese pink building.

Once you walked through the whole Phuket Mining Museum building, which doesn’t take long despite its size, you can explore the park around and have a look at some other mining remains and machine spare parts as well as a beautiful view on the nearby hills. As shown in this video.

Friendship Beach street Art Gallery (Graffiti)

You know sometimes Street Art appears in places you least expect it! Like this building on Friendship Beach near Rawai, in Phuket. Or maybe not, maybe its the perfect location for artists to express their feelings of being there.

Either way I have here a collection of very talented artists, and where at all possible i have credited their work. I do a lot of research but as with all of this kind of visual art it is not always possible to find out everything about the piece or the artists.

A large part of this collection is from the local Artist Amann based here in Phuket. I find a fair few pieces of his work spread around the Phuket Area.
