Abandoned Building- Kew Aung Tai Temple-Rawai

Also named as Kew Ong Tai De Am Rawai, I couldn't find anymore than the translation below about this place. What appeared to be a great vegetarian, community effort that ran out of funds. None the less an interesting visit and view of what might have been and what still might be one day!

Co-construct the Kew Ong Tai Tam Temple Center of Dharma Practice And eat vegetables throughout the year.
By Thewasan Kew Ong Tai Tam (Rawai) located at 60 Moo 6, Rawai Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District It is a land belonging to the “Sukkaew” family, formerly owned by Father Lamead Sukkaew and Mother Lamead Sukkaew. And both of you Had a wish for this land to be the construction of the Kew Ong Tai Te Temple When he died, the said land became ownership of the heir. "Maha Pho Footprint" by Mother Lamed Which is a villager with good hearts Has a wonderful wisdom, touches according to beliefs To bring down the Bodhi tree growing on the Phrao Duan tree and plant it Mae Lamead brought the Bodhi tree to walk around, ready to plant many times until she found this point. Which is the point where Ong Ong Tai Tao has his footprint Therefore bowed to worship around the Buddha's foot as a preliminary And is the origin of "Maha Pho Footprint" said.

While Mr. Arun Soros, Mayor of Rawai Sub-District, said that for the festival of the Yom Kippur Festival of Phuket residents Of the local government organization Has supported the tradition for a long time Both on facilitating the participants to eat vegetables To get comfortable Including supporting various factors To be used during the festival as well

As for the construction of the Kew Ong Taiteam Temple (Rawai), the municipality invites the people of faith to donate money. Although the construction has progressed a lot. But people can still donate money When this temple is completed, it will be a beautiful place that will promote tourism in the Rawai area as well.

Abandoned Villa Old Town Phuket

So another in my Urban exploration series, this time the abandoned Villa, in Old Town Phuket.

Built around 100 years ago this sadly empty and decaying building is left. Surrounded by some out buildings and what would have been servants quarters.

The building is securely padlocked at all entrances to the ground floor, I suspect that as much of the main roof section has gone the upper floors maybe rotten beyond repair and very dangerous!

Windows are closed and I managed to push one open a little to get a peek inside. Tantalising glimpses of what was before.

You can get around to the side and the rear of this building, the back, backs onto a water culvert so not practical to enter through there either. Judging by the undergrowth, i wouldn't want to bet on the local friendly snakes either.

So instead I just looked at what I could and wishing I could restore it to what it used to be.

On a prime piece f land in the center of the Old Town in Phuket, it looks like there will be a long wait before that if ever comes up for sale!

Abandoned Chalong view villas

Another one of my "Abandoned buildings" collection. I actually visited this quite well known location when I visited the Phuravarna.. The Abandoned Retreat.

Originally this complex was the brainchild by Gary Ebsen, a long time Phuket resident and director of Eco–Cool Thai Homes, a company that has won several awards for building energy–efficient homes, set about creating affordable freehold condominiums in a modern resort atmosphere with stunning panoramic views of historic Chalong Bay and the offshore islands.

Using his experience and contacts he focused on the long over–looked but currently booming Chalong Circle area and located a choice 2.5 Rai (1 acre) plot of land within easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants of the Chalong Pier. This is where Chalong Bay Condominiums had to be!

Sadly the same story is so common here, the non transfer of ownership deeds, because of "problems with repaying bank loans" left many investors out of pocket and only getting a 60% refund on their money. The project was abandoned and recent reports from the Thai journals suggest that the land and property is going up for auction.

One can't help thinking... "Buyer beware!"

Unfinished Phuket Provincial Hall

This incomplete government offices stand on ground located on Thakreng Rd, near Rama IX Park, in Chalong Phuket.

Interestingly the Car park is completely finished and beautiful, but sadly inaccessible by vehicles as the road to it has not been finished either. There is also an event hall next door, also complete and used by government officers.

After the new Provincial Hall is complete it will become home to over a dozen of official agencies, including the Provincial Labour Office and the Provincial Governor's Office. The current Phuket Provincial Hall on Narisorn Rd will be converted into a museum.

The new Phuket Provincial Hall will be big enough to provide seats to some 1000 clerks. The administrative complex will have 295 indoor and 25 outdoor parking spaces for cars, 2 parking spaces for buses and 200 slots for motorbikes.
