Huahin Railway Station
Some photos from my recent visit to Huahin Railway Station, felt like I was back home in the UK, in Leatherhead where I used to live and where there is a very similar railway station to this, or is it the other way round? without the grand royal pavilion of course!

A remnant of bygone times, the picturesque Hua Hin train station is one of the stops on the route from Bangkok to the South. The station is located in the center of town, in walking distance from attractions as the night market and the main beach.

Its main attraction is the Royal Waiting Room which was used by Thai Royals when they visited the seaside summer Palace. Pictured on postcards and t-shirts, the building is one of Hua Hin’s most recognizable landmarks.

A visit to Hua Hin railway station feels like a step back in time. The station is one of the oldest in Thailand and one of the few still in its original state.

The main building in Victorian style dates back to the mid 1920’s.
Old style light bulbs between the tracks are carried by mythological birds.
On the other side of the tracks stands an antique steam locomotive.

A little away from the main building stands the Royal Waiting Room, a beautiful teak wood building in bright yellowish and red colors.

Originally part of Sanam Chandra Palace in Nakhon Pathom province, the building was moved to Hua Hin to be used as the Royal Waiting Room.

The very well preserved building was once used by members of the Thai Royal Family when they visited the seaside Maruekhathaiyawan Palace. King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) built the teak wooden palace as a seaside summer retreat in 1923.

I know I have been quiet of late, down to a busy summer trying to get a holiday and moving house.
Todays video is taken from my first day of my two week holiday! As you can see it was fighting between, shall i rain? shall I not rain? overcast and windy was not the best way to visit the Sarasin Bridge, but it has been in my sights for some while now. I could not miss the opportunity on my way off the Island. I have always looked at it and thought "how Victorian", but actually it isn not at all, but quite modern.

Unable to cope with the ever growing traffic, and the need to open up mainland Thailand to the Island, a second bridge/highway was built to take the traffic. In keeping with the Thais love of leisure, the bridge has been kept as a tourist attraction as well as servicing motorcycle crossing for locals and anyone who wants to walk it.
I loved my whole experience of the Bridge and the views are outstanding! along with the busy fishing boats. I hope you enjoy my view of the Sarasin Bridge?

Sarasin Bridge, Phuket
Coming from the Thailand mainland in Phang Nga province on Highway 402, you will need to cross a long bridge to reach the famous island of Phuket.
The bridge that originally took everyone over the ocean is named the Sarasin Bridge. It is 660 meters (722 yards) in length and was finished in 1967.
This bridge was in service as the only bridge to Phuket until 2011 when two new bridges were erected beside Sarasin Bridge on the West Side – one going south, one north.

After the new bridge was built, the Sarasin Bridge was then turned into a fishing pier and a place to walk around over the water. The old bridge still stands as a memorial to Phuket history.

This 111 meter long tall ship from Indonesia docked at the deep port in Phuket. An invitation via the local press was given to members of the public to come and visit it, and so I did.

It was in Phuket as part of the 2019 Nation Ambassador Sail (NAS), an annual program of the Indonesian Navy to strengthen Indonesia's commitment to regional security, peace and stability. The theme for this year’s program is "Maritime Fulcrum Brotherhood".

It was a real treat fro anyone not having got close to one of these magnificent Ships.

The KRI Bima Suci is one of the tallest ships owned by the Indonesian Navy, besides KRI Dewa Ruci. The vessel is 111.2 metres long, and 13.65m wide draws a depth of 5.95m. Its tallest mast stretches 49m from the deck surface.

This ship – which can accommodate up to 209 personnel consisting of 35 officers, 73 sailors and 101 cadets who are 83 Indonesian Navy Cadets n opportunity to practice their capabilities in basic navigation and astronomical navigation.

One of my peaceful moments short videos that I have finally had time to get to making.

Interestingly this was photographed this last Sunday after an unexpected visit to Rawai Beach . I spent quite a bit of time there on Sunday afternoon, and took , as I do, images to remind myself to remember a calm and enjoyable moment of life. enhanced even more by the tide going out leaving the local fishing boats stranded in the sand.

Watching people picking their way through the rocks to find small crabs and shellfish. So for anyone who might feel like a breath of fresh air, have a watch, and lose yourself somewhere beautiful in your mind!
